Kayla has been wanting rain boots forever. The ones she wanted were Hello Kitty and $25.00 even at Target. Well, I thought that was ridiculous for rain boots, so Mommy went online:-) I found this adorable set on sale for $24.99 or something like that with a little more for the umbrella:-) So she was upset she had to wait but thrilled when her stuff came to the house in a "brown box". (During the wait, I kept telling her that her stuff was coming right to the house, to the very front door, in a brown box.)

Upon its arrival, we had a brief tiff over the fact that yes-you-do-wear-socks-with-rain boots!!!, but then she gladly donned socks and put on the whole outfit. She's looking forward to the next [safe] rainstorm where she can wear her outfit and go puddle-stomping:-) And I have to be honest; I AM TOO!

This weekend, Kimberly thew a fabulous party for Grandma Millie's 90th birthday. I could go on about how wonderful it was, but I'll let the slide show tell the story:-) (The slide show has been moved to the column on the right. Click to view.)

So far as my recovery, I got a lot of things taken care of yesterday:-) I've been having some issues with blood sugar due to the cyst they removed from my pituitary gland. I saw my endocrinologist's assistant yesterday and they set me up with a blood sugar monitor and a diet for Diabetes Insipidus, which is "pretend" diabetes. After 2 meals, I already feel better:-) My blood pressure has been high, and I got some medication for that as well, and that will probably be very short term since I think that was due to the blood sugar fluctuations, which were ranging from around 100 to 190. And once the blood sugar fluctuations are under control, I should be able to kick the infection that's been plaguing the wound in my mouth and sinuses that I caught after the surgery. When your blood sugars are out of control, you don't heal well. So After a few calls & visits yesterday, I think I will be on the mend again in no time:-) All of that to say that even with a few minor issues going on, my pain is still less than it was before surgery, so I'm about the happiest camper on the planet! Thank you again to all of you for your kind wishes, prayers, phone calls, emails and general support:-)

Well, to do some catching up. Most of you know that I am recovering from having a tumor removed from my pituitary gland. The pain from my headaches is already less than before and I feel like I'm looking forward to a whole new life!

Today I took Kayla for her first manicure and pedicure at Sweet & Sassy. She was an absolute hoot. I swear she got that same look of relaxation that comes over me when I'm getting a pedicure. I forgot my camera for the event, but I did get pics of the aftermath. She thoroughly enjoyed it and REALLY thinks she's a princess now. For my part...she took a nap without screaming! Score one for mom:-)

Just Hangin' Out

Mid-January, we gathered at a favorite Winter haunt, Gazebo Burger for a regular Sunday dinner. Kayla was hamming it up for Melissa's camera. Having a two-year-old along for dinner is starting to get more challenging:-) We hear, "D'yo wanna get down?" about once per second as soon as she's done eating:-) She gets her you's and I's mixed up:-)

What a wonderful, busy Christmas this year! Kayla discovered the wonder of PRESENTS!
We had a wonderful, packed, family Christmas at Grandma's with Shiloh, Rachel, Eric, Kimberly and Grandma. Kayla and Shiloh did pretty well this year at not fighting over their presents.
She especially enjoyed her rocking horse, rose petal cottage and tea set! She plays with everything, though. She loves to wear her pretty pink cowboy hat, rock on her horse, and yell, "I'm a cowboy!"

She loved getting dressed up in her Christmas dresses. She discovered the full-length mirror in Uncle Burt's office and spent a lot of time talking to the baby in the mirror on Christmas Eve:-)

Christmas evening we kicked back with "Auntie 'Netta", Uncle Burt, Melissa, Neal, Alison and the rest of the Winter clan.
